Fire or No Fire?

On 15 December 2016, Thursday, at about 1400 hours, there was an incident involving a transformer/ switchgear located in the premises of a golf resort in Johor. The witness/ technician of the golf resort stated that he heard an ‘explosion’ like sound while he was waiting for a meeting with the General Manager at the clubhouse nearby.

Gas Turbine Explosion Investigation

At approximately 1300 hours on Saturday, 14 December 2013, a loud bang resembling an explosion was heard at the exhaust ducting of Gas Turbine Generator (GT) 1 after eleven (11) attempts of ignition during the maintenance period.

A Mitsubishi generator was reported to have failed within the premises of power generation station at South Ternate, North Maluku, Indonesia. The incident was discovered when the alarm system of the generator activated.

Fire Investigation At A Timberplant

In a morning, a fire was reported to have occurred at one (1) of the production and storage building in the premises of a timber plant in Jakarta, Indonesia. The incident was discovered by one (1) of the maintenance staff who saw smoke emanating from within the building via the ventilation holes on the wall.

Lightning Damage To An Alternator

In an afternoon, three (3) alternators for the 3 generators were reported to have failed simultaneously, allegedly due to lightning activity. The reportedly damaged components included the main rotor coil, exciter rotor coil, Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR), diodes, and bearings.
